Photo Garland – Gather up copies of your favorite photos and cut them into fun shapes like circles, stars and triangles. You can mount them onto card stock if you like to make them more sturdy. Then, punch holes in them to string them all together vertically. Hang from the ceiling near the buffet table or in doorways for a fun party garland. It’s a great way to share your favorite memories with new year’s party guests. Or, check out PurpleTrail.com for their easy to use online design center. You can create custom cards with unlimited photos, change text and colors to match your decor. Then use a hole puncher to punch the top of each card and string a sparkly silver ribbon through the cards to create an unforgettable New Year’s Eve banner.

Resolution Drink Markers – Take colorful pieces of card stock, and cutout two inch circles. Cut through to middle of the circles on one side, then write a resolution on each one. They can be funny, or serious, whatever you like! Slip each resolution circle on the stem, drink glasses, or the rim of highball glasses. These resolution drink markers are sure to get smiles from guests and help keep glasses in the right hands.

Good Luck Grapes – In Spain, many people eat twelve grapes as the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s. It is said that for every sweet grape eaten, that ensures one month of good luck. For every sour grape, a bad month may ensue. Skewer twelve grapes on bamboo skewers or swizzle sticks to place in guest’s champagne flutes for the midnight toast. Encourage each guest to eat their grapes quickly as the New Year begins.

Pots and Pans – Put out a variety of old pots, pans, and wooden spoons. As the clock strikes midnight, send children outside to clang an clatter their pots to ring in the New Year. If you don’t have any old pots or pans, encourage guests to bring their own or pick up some at your local thrift store and re-donate after your New Year’s party.
