What kinds of things can I do with my shapes and images?

There are a number of things you can do within the shapes and images tab.  You can easily copy, paste, bring the  image forward or backward, delete, flip, crop, change opacity, add effects, add fill color, and add a border to any image, photo or shape. To do any of these actions, select the image you wish to modify and click the action button and follow prompts, if any.

How do I add photos to my design?

You can easily add photos to your design.  Simply click on the photos menu on the left hand side.  The PurpleTrail photos library will pop up.  You can search for images within the design center or you can upload your own.  To upload your own click on upload photo and choose the file you’d like to upload.  Once you see it appear in your photos menu, click and drag it onto your design.

How do I add shapes to my design?

Simply click on the shapes button on the left hand menu.  Choose the shape you’d like to add to your design and then click and drag onto your card.

How do I bring a shape or image into the foreground or background?

You can easily bring an image or shape in and out of the foreground.  Make sure you are in the images and shape tab.  And click on your shape or image you want to move. The simply click backward or forward to achieve the desired affect.

Can I change the opacity of an image?

Yes you can.  Once the image is on your card design, click on the image you wish to modify.  Make sure you are in the images and shapes tab. Click on the Opacity button.

Move the arrow to desired opacity level.  The lower the number the more transparent the image becomes.

Can I add effects to my photos?

Yes you can.  By clicking the Effects button in the Images and Shapes tab.  Select the effect you’d like and click done.

How do I change the design type?

It’s easy to change the design type of your card.  Once you are in the design center make sure you are in the file tab (it’s the default tab upon opening the design center. Then click on the design type button and select which type you’d like to create.

Adding text to your design is easy.  Start by dragging the text box of your choice onto your design.

Once you drag the text box to the desired location, to begin typing text, double click inside the text box.

If you wish to adjust the text size you can increase it at the top of your page.  You can also change the font type here as well.

You can also add increase the border thickness and change the color as well as change the fill color of the text box.

You can left, center or right align your text within the text box by clicking on the appropriate Paragraph selection.

You can resize your text box by dragging the squares around the text box.  You can also rotate the text by clicking and holding the circle at the top of your text box.

How do I create a background?

You have a few options for creating a background.  Click on the background menu and click on either the Get Backgrounds or Background Color.

If you would like to select a background from one the PurpleTrail Design Center Library, simply click on Get Backgrounds and you can browse the designs.  You can type in a specific search term if you know what you are looking for. 

You can also create your own background.  Simply click on Background Colors and use the color picker to select the color.  Click and drag the the circle to find the perfect shade.  You’ll find a preview of the color that you’ve chosen in the lower left box.  Hit the Done button once you’ve found the color you like.

If have your own background you’d like to use, you can easily upload it to your design.  Simply click on the Get Backgrounds and you will see the Upload Background button in the upper right portion of the screen.  Simply click and choose the file you’d like to upload. You can currently upload images in .jpg, .gif and .png format.

You can also add the postcard background.  You will see it in the Backgrounds Menu.  Just click and drag the postcard image from the Background Menu.
