Ahoy Matey! If you are hosting a pirate party for your little one, the first thing you’ll have do is send out pirate invitations and then begin to create decorations to make your pirate cove. Our party experts have some great ideas to help you create an unforgettable pirate party.
Pirate Birthday Invitations:
You can let the guests know the birthday party theme by sending pirate invitations.
- To create an authentic feel to your invites, use pirate lingo in your invitation. For instance, “Ahoy Hearties! Ye be invited fer birthday spirits at Cap’n (child’s name) Buccaneer merrymaking. Map yer course on the (date) fer (address). We be a meeting at (time) fer some swashbuckling fun and grub, so come suitably attired. Say “Aye” if ye be attending or send a message to (phone number). Those ye dare…shalt be there… (If not, then walk the plank!)”. Check out more pirate speak ideas.

Pirate Party Decorations:
To make the place fit for real Buccaneers try some of these ideas:
- Make a sign on the door “Enter at yer own risk” and hang old treasure maps on the walls.
- Hang fishing nets, flags and anchors all around your house or yard (nets can also be used over any kind of tablecloth). For the real look you can stick crabs, lobsters, plastic oyster shells, rubber fish and seahorses in the net.
- A treasure chest is a must. To make one take a Styrofoam cooler and paint it brown or black. Use gold ribbon to trim the lid and the base of the chest. Glue some small rectangle shapes of yellow craft foam on to the center of the lid in the front and the other directly below to make the lock. For an authentic look, cut out and glue different colored circles around the base. Fill it with gold chocolate coins, gummy fish, starburst candies, colored beaded necklaces etc.
- Make a Pirate ship from a large appliance box. Cut it so that one of the corners is the bow of the ship. Paint it brown with blue waves at the bottom and add the mast and flag. You could put your child’s name on the ship.
These are just a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing. Make your child’s pirate birthday party swashbuckling fun!
