Every year many people set out to do a family photo card for their holiday photo cards to send out. This year, try creating a more custom photo card. It’s easy to do and it makes for a more personalized card that recipients will want to display. It’s easy to do and cost effective too!
Start by choosing the photo you want. If you don’t have one in mind, then set a time for a photo shoot. Get the family dressed up and ready to go. Keep little ones happy with cookies to snack on in between shots or a fuzzy friend to get a giggle out of them. Sometimes a candid shot is better than a perfectly posed one. Don’t worry about crumbs or red eye, you can edit those out later. Tips to remember:
- Shoot in the highest resolution your camera will support. More pixels per square inch will provide a much sharper image and will be less fuzzy.
- Use natural light when indoors
- When using a flash, keep distance between the camera and subjects. Generally 3 feet is ample.
- Avoid direct sunlight when shooting outdoors – a little cloud cover is great because it acts like a natural filter.
Once you have the photo you like, upload it to into the design center (see uploading photos help). Then you can add it
to your card and play around with it. You can crop it, create effects like sepia, created shape borders and more. You can really create a work of art to send to your and family. A custom photo card is easy to create and economical too! Be sure to choose a quality paper to print on if you are printing at home. If you choose to have them printed professionally, all of our cards are printed on premium recycled paper. It is 100# Ultra White paper that is made with 80% post consumer waste. It calipers at 12.3 pt paper thickness.
Creating a custom photo card is a great way to send your family photo card this year. Whether it’s for the holidays, a birthday invitation or just because, it’s a touching way to send out your greeting.
