As I was creating kids birthday party invitations, I came across this “Party like it’s 1969″ article on cookiemag.com.  What a fun theme for a spring or summer birthday party!  They’ve put together some really fun outdoor activities like tie-dye, spin art, bracelet making and more.  They even have some great recipe ideas  with things like peace punch and even a tie-dye cake.  As well as party music that will keep the kids dancing.

2 of my favorite activities they listed:

Tie -Dye

Yep, it’s cool to wear tie-dye again.  Pick up a varitety of white socks, shirts and shorts and of course lots of rubberbands and let the kids go to town. There are kits available and tubs to use too.  You could even tie-dye white cotton sheets to make some super groovy bedding.  Use clothes pins to clip a slip of paper with the child’s name on it to the garment.  Send them home in plastic bags as the dye needs to set for several hours before rinsing.

Spin Art

This is so much fun and perfect for an outdoor party.  You’ll need a salad spinner, some large size (5×7) index cards, and some tempera paint.  Set up a table for the artwork to dry before taking it home.  Be sure to get lots of paint colors.  The kids will have so much fun spinning the paint into there very own materpiece!

Peace, love and joy!
