Here’s a fun idea to use for your upcoming Easter weekends! The night or day before Easter when all your family is together, initiate an Easter egg decorating contest for the grown-ups!
Gather everyone around the kitchen table. Have plenty of hard boiled eggs on-hand. Set out cups of dye in all the different colors. Have sets of markers, stickers, crayons, rubber bands and other special egg decorating tools.
The rules are that each person gets to decorate 3-5 eggs (our family does 5). You can only use the tools and materials provided on the table. You’ll have the few that start with the basics, but really use your imagination with the materials and you could make some really cool results! Also, think 3D!
Then on Easter Sunday, have a neutral party (we use the uncles and aunts or cousins that weren’t there the night before) to be the judges and vote for their favorites. Make sure to have the eggs displayed, but not to label who did which egg so that all entries are anonymous!
Award the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes. Have medals or trophies to hand to the winners and take a medal podium picture with the winners holding their eggs! We’ve continued the tradition for a few years so far and have a lot of fun with it!
