Next time you send sleepover invitations think about a camp out! Kids love to be outside in the summertime and camping is a great way for them to enjoy the great outdoors. The idea of taking 15 young people camping in the wilderness may be more than you can “bear” so why not bring the great outdoors to you with a backyard camping trip! Summertime sleepovers are a fun way for kids to spend the long, warm nights. Our party experts have put a few tips together to help you plan a fantastic back yard camp-out adventure.
Setting the Scene:
- tents (as many as it takes to sleep the number of guests comfortably)
- sleeping bags (you can instruct each guest to bring their own)
- flash lights
- games and activity supplies
- camping food
- party favors
- fire pit (to be used with adult supervision)
- bug spray (optional)
This is a great theme for a summertime sleepover or birthday party. Simply set up as many tents as you need and plan for it to be an all nighter. Put plenty of grab and go snacks that don’t require refrigeration. Supply plenty of water and of course access to a bathroom. Fill the night with loads of fun backyard camping games and activities. Make sure to provide the kids with flash lights so they can tell scary stories and make their way around the yard. They will have a blast sleeping under the stars and eating lots of yummy camping snacks. The family dog and the neighborhood squirrel will suffice as “wild animals” for this trip.
